The Glass City Marathon would like to help you get to the starting line on April 22nd. We are happy to provide a number of training resources and tools to help you get there and to the finish line.

There are a number of training groups available locally and in most cities.  Check with your local running club, YMCA, and running stores for details.  These training tools are provided to supplement your training program:

1.
Map My Run – This tool allows you to map your training routes with distance, elevation changes, and satellite views. You can also map the official marathon course and see its elevations.

2.
Training Forum
 – The forum will help you communicate with others with the same amazing goal as you. You can share stories, ask questions and gain additional motivation and inspiration.

3.
Training Log
 – The log will help you keep track of your training and allow you or your coach to review it

OFFICIAL MARATHON TRAINING TEAM

Dave’s Running Shop has developed a training team to help runners who are interested in running the half or full Glass City Marathon.  The program will be designed for both beginner and experienced runners. Program entry will include the following benefits.

  • Race Entry – Half of Full Marathon
  • Organized weekly long runs on Saturday mornings led by staff and coaches.
  • Sports gels and electrolyte drinks provided for all long runs.
  • In store discounts to Dave’s Running shop- 15% off shoes, 20% off Clothing and 15% off heart rate monitors.
  • Access to a staff of certified coaches and experienced runners to help answer any questions, provide feedback and offer additional guidance.
  • “In Training” Tech shirt.
  • Race day pacing and nutrition strategies.

The program will begin in early December and run through to race day consisting of a detailed daily training program. The program will require a heart rate monitor which will allow for a more accurate method to measure and monitor the training intensity for each runner. It will also allow the program to be more personalized. Ideally, for any first time marathon runner, you should have been running consistently 10-15 miles per week for a few months.
